Gus Giordano Dance School offers both year long and summer scholarships to deserving students from around the world. Our mission is to produce dancers who are well-rounded and ready for all aspects of the professional dance world. We not only prepare our scholarship students for careers in concert dance, but also for Broadway, cruise ships, television, and teaching.

If you are interested please email school@gusgiordanodanceschool.com to set up an audition. Video submissions are accepted with headshot, recent dance photo, and resume. Videos must include a short ballet barre, jazz combination, and modern combination. Video sumbmissions can be made at any time.

SUMMER SCHOLARSHIP
June 18, 2012 - July 28, 2012



Summer scholarship recipients will participate in approximately 20 hours of class/rehearsal per week with an in studio performance the last week to culminate the experience. The scholarship program includes classes in Jazz, Ballet, Modern, Tap, Contemporary, Lyrical, Floor Barre, Zumba, Yoga, and Hip Hop. While participating in the intense 6 week program, scholarship students are not allowed to take classes elsewhere. (Further training is encouraged before and after participation in our program at other schools in Chicago.) Our scholarship students are required to follow the school dress code, clean and classic. Hair must be neatly pulled back, no excess jewelry should be worn in class, proper warm-up attire is allowed but must be removed after warm-up, and proper shoes for each class are required. Our mission is to produce dancers who are well-rounded and ready for all aspects of the professional dance world. We not only prepare our scholarship students for careers in concert dance, but also for Broadway, cruise ships, television, and teaching.

Full 6 Week Scholarship Value - $1,700.00 / Half Scholarship Value - $850.00 / Quarter Scholarship Value - $425.00

IMPORTANT DATES IF YOUR INTERESTED IN A SCHOLARSHIP:

January 30, 2012 – Headshot, resume, recent dance photo, and video audition must be sumbitted to amy@gusgiordanodanceschool.com or schedule an audition at the school.

February 29, 2012 – You will be notified if you have been chosen to receive a scholarship.

IMPORTANT DATES IF YOU ALREADY HAVE RECEIVED A SCHOLARSHIP:

February 1, 2012 – Must receive headshot (does not have to be professionally done), recent dance photo, and resume via mail along with deposit of $200.00 (not applicable to full scholarship recipients). Failure to meet this deadline will result in revocation of scholarship.

June 10, 2012 – Full payment ($650.00) for half scholarship recipients must be made on or before June 10th in order to participate in the scholarship program.



YEAR LONG SCHOLARSHIP
September Through May



Scholarship students are chosen through an audition process. Participants of the audition are required to take a Ballet, Jazz, and Modern or Contemporary class while providing a headshot and resume. After the audition reviews are made and recipients are contacted. Scholarship students at the Gus Giordano Dance School must have graduated from high school and have an extensive dance background. Scholarship recipients will participate in 16.5 hours of class per week separate from rehearsal times. Throughout the year scholarship students will have numerous opportunities to perform throughout the Chicagoland area building contacts and experiences that will benefit them in the future. Scholarship students are not allowed to take classes elsewhere, however further training is encouraged before and after participation in our program at other schools in Chicago. Full Scholarship Value - $10,000 / Half Scholarship Value - $5,000 / Quarter Scholarship - $2,500

Housing options/information will be provided by the school, but it is the participant’s responsibility to pay for and secure their own housing.
